Parkour

I used to run through the bush (heavy jungle like forests of New Zealand) at speed, dodging trees, jumping over logs. I sometimes do this at uni and through town. Now I have found the name for it. Parkour. This is the name given to the behaviour that a lot of people have probably done before - crazy running while avoiding obstacles. The idea is that these actions have always existed, that this is just a name for them.

There is a bit of history surrounding it that wikipedia can explain better than I can. What’s not on wikipedia is all the crazy movies of these talented people in action. This guy is amazing. There are a few other movies out there that I can’t find at the moment. Apparently there was a BBC adversitement that gave it a lot of attention.

Well tomorrow I’ve decided to start on this crazy sport, I’ve always enjoyed it before and I think it will be fun.

Man… And I thought I was crazy playing tag when I was younger. Or when I dropped down 1.5 stories playing cops and robbers. But that… heck, that’s just stylish!

I remember cops and robbers. I did some pretty dangerous things while playing that, much fun. That and bullrush. And capture the flag - I put a tooth through my lip when someone ran into me while playing. One of the 4 times I’ve put teeth through my lip, heh.

Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Parkour!? Awesome. I haven’t really tried it on account of my invariable bad luck which would lead to my premature and grisly death (or at least debilatating maiming) if I were to partake in such an activity, but now that I know there’s a name for it I’d be keen to give it a try, hahah! Anyway, I’ll catch up with you at your upcoming 21st, do you want anything in particular? Perhaps a pair of sturdy goggles to keep the foliage out of your eyes whilst Parkouring or a set of trusty tweezers to remove those unsightly splinters and slithers of bark?

Oh I forgot the URL for signing into your blog man, otherwise I would have logged in for this post.

    Laters bro,

I dunno aye, something useful? Something from one of those outdoor shops? A zombie flick? (I’ve got Underworld and Resident Evil). Anything is cool.

You don’t actually need to get me anything, it’s not an expectation…

Guess what! Our landlord brought us some waikato and a bottle of wine, cool eh?

Hope you had an ace Christmas,
    Thomas
