As I was ranting in my previous post about having to make do with Windows until I can get my hands on a Powerbook (even an iBook would be acceptable methinks!). Anyway, I’ve made myself a program similar to the Application Launcher plug-in to QuickSilver so I can launch applications using a key combination and by typing in a keyword/tag. It’s tentatively called “FrozenMercury” and was written in VB due to the ease of design of weird GUI’s like this needed and the fact that I know how to write a VB program in no time flat.
Anyway, it’s in about Alpha stage, it works for me, but it missing a few things and I’m not sure if it will run on anyone else’s computer. I plan to make the binaries freely available once I get a little bit of time to tidy it up.
No Responses to ““FrozenMercuryâ€â€ haha, lots of quotes…
I think it will be well received, if I used a PC I’d use it.
AppRocket is similar right?
Oh, and I think the subscription plugin broke the AJAX comments a bit. All you need to do once you post is refresh the page - but it’s sad.
Edit: maybe just the first comment on something that you haven’t subscribed to, seems to be okay now.
Ah yeah, AppRocket is similar, it uses .NET and I found it to be more than I needed as well as kind of weird to use, it wasn’t quite what I was looking for, it seems a lot like Spotlight for applications and documents (without searching inside them) and random other things like Control Panel Applets etc.
Yeah, I know what you mean… too big, does everything at the detriment to what you want to use it for and it needs .NET. That’s why I would use your program.
